ANDY CHANDLER In the world of emerging musicians, there are some who will do almost anything for commercial exposure. Then there are those who are so underground, that they will shun the faintest glimpse of mainstream recognition. But, as with any case of extremes, there exists the middle path. Step up to the piano Mr. Andy Chandler. Born in Stockport and inspired by Manchester’s flourishing indie scene, 23 year old Andy began writing his own songs when he was just eleven. Classically trained on the piano, Andy’s unique sound is influenced by childhood heroes Ray Charles, Tom Waits and Otis Redding, and comparisons have already been made with Paolo Nutini, James Morrison and John Mayer. During a three-year stay in Nottingham, Andy caused a local stir by becoming the hottest prospect on the city’s competitive, normally guitar dominated, open mic scene. Now back in Manchester, Andy has been honing his live sound for the past year and is now spending time in his home studio working on the songs that will form the basis of his debut album. His songs capture aspects of his life, “Jumped the Gun” relates the tale of an unfortunate experience at the hands of some nightclub doormen and “Open Your Eyes” is a slow powerful track, inspired by his reading of the novel “Sophie’s World”. Andy’s thoughts on long distance relationships are captured in the feel good track “Smile” which has a chorus that would light up any radio station’s output. Andy has just completed a successful UK Tour of the Living Room bars supporting soul sensation and Award Winning singer Nate James. You can catch Andy performing all over the country including sessions in London and across the North West. RO TIERNEY "Having spent my late teens immersed in a usual band of hopes and dreams, egos and eegits, fists and fashion issues, I eventually broke free to find out what exactly I wanted from music - or what music wanted from me. Not being trapped in the boundaries of a common 4-piece rock band was new and refreshing, albeit scary and somewhat lonely. I now found myself with an infinite horizon and endless possibilites of where I could go with music. I began writing a new breed of song and performed solo to audiences around Ireland, usually as an opening act. The reaction was great and excited me but I still felt like a half-ass songwriter. I grew tiered of my songs as I felt they lacked...something. I needed a change - not in music - but in life. I needed to experience something different - be somewhere different. I decided to go as far away as possible and leave my half empty glass behind me. Over the course of two years I travelled around New Zealand and Australia. I became deeply inspired by these countries and the amazing people I met along the way. I bought myself a new guitar and my glass filled quite quickly. The songs that came out were like nothing else I had written at home - they were effortless and felt "right". I wrote songs in magic surroundings from the breath-taking hills of south New Zealand to the chilled out beaches around Australia's sunny coast. Towards the end of my trip I realised I had an album I needed to make. Now I find myself in the driving seat on a winding road with no traffic lights or road signs - just blind faith in frequencies I know nothing about. I think I found what I wanted from music - or what music wanted from me."
